My fave didn't have a big win.
Worst loss for me was her tank to Mauresmo in China.

Women's tennis sucks.

Re: The biggest win and the worst defeat of your fave in 2006 season...

Lindsay's biggest win came against Srebotnik to me.
It just felt like she would have ended her career there if she would have happened to lose to Srebotnik.

Lindsay's worse lost happens to be a tie between HIngis at Indian Wells and Mauresmo a Beijing.
Both players haven't beaten Lindsay in over 4 years but she let them just dominate her in those matches.
It shows regression when she needs the opposite of that to really have any chance of winning a slam.

Even though it was her first match in forever, I think Lindsay's worst loss of the year was against Stosur in LA.

Serena
Best - erm...erm...erm...Her win over Ivanovic.
Worst - Her loss against Hantuchova pained me.

Venus
Best - She really hasn't had any, but I'll say her win over Hingis.
Worst - Pironkova or Vaidisova

Davenport
Best - Against Srebotnik for the same reasons as wannabeknowitall
Worst - Against Hingis at Indian Wells.

Sharapova

Best - Against Henin at the US Open final. Had an awful record against her and finally won another major.
Worst - Against Safina at the French Open, from a 5-1 lead in the 3rd.

Serena:

Win: either beating Shaughnessy @ LA or beating Ivanovic at the US Open
Loss: vs. Hantuchova @ the OZ Open, that one still stings

Venus:

Win: beating Hingis in Warsaw
Loss: vs. Vaidisova at the FO QF

Agree that V's win over Marti was great, she showed great fight in that match even though at the time I wanted to fly to Poland to give Martina a proper bitch-slapping, what a bizarre match!

I think her worst loss though was in Australia to Pironkova, who played out of her mind, still, Venus shouldn't have lost that match!
I hope Venus starts 2007 on a tear!!

I think Serena's biggest win came against Na Li.
I don't even see Serena in the top 100 without that win.

I think Serena's worse lost came against Jankovic.
I worry about that matchup. Serena is still a step lower. She's compensating with one of the best slices on tour but against someone like Jankovic that might not be enough.

Re: The biggest win and the worst defeat of your fave in 2006 season...

Pierce

Best - win over... erm... maybe her win over bammer because it was her comeback match and she was so close to losing and she managed to win 6-1 6-7 7-6 with a lot of heart. maybe her win over sugiyama 7-6 7-6 because she stopped that awaful run of losses.

Worst - obviously the loss to bepa z because every time i think about seeing her lying there it makes me feel ill. and she had match points. and she was finally back on track. everything about that match makes it the worst match ever.

but if we're talking about matches that actually got finished then it has to be her 3-6 5-7 loss to benesova at the AO because i expected so much of her after her glorious 2005 season. it still hurts.

Zheng

she has loads of good and bad matches to choose from

good include wins over groenefeld (before her slump), pennetta (easily), golovin (easily), wozniaki (easily), pironkova and thrashing myskina in the stockholm final

notable mentions are that she was one of the rare players to really challenge the clay court petrova who was in unstoppable form (6-7 6-4 4-6) and was the only player who managed to challenge ana ivanovic when she had that incredible week in montreal (4-6 7-6 2-6)

bad include the ones that made up her 6 match losing streak at the beginning of the season. but the worst is probably her latest loss to joanna sacowicz...only winning 4 games

The win of Srebotnik was huge, just because Lindsay came back from the brink at the USO.

The Hingis match, Lindsay was injured and I'm willing to give a pass at that one.
The lost to Mauresmo in Beijing was just disgusting. That gets my nod.
