Re: Venus will be "the face of the campaign" to promote equality in women's sports
I hope she knows she's up for a real battle.
The inconsistencies are pretty much everywhere.
I think it's rational to make Wimbledon feel as sexist as possible and the only way to do that is to request equal prize money at all tournaments the men and women play.
So if the women's Italian Open gives about half the prize money as the men's then request equal pay and if that means using a sponser that would be considered a bit controversial than so be it.
I don't feel women are treated the same way as the men even in the organization of the USTA, that needs to be looked at.
There should be equality in areas where there isn't.
It should not have taken India so long to have a women tennis star.
The names of South African men's tennis players is a pretty respectable list but the names of the South African women's tennis players is short.
The list goes on and on.
I would like to see consistency and I hope Venus will be able to do so.

Something needs to change.
