Agnieska is not ready to stop her rise in the world ranking. She's now 4 spots from the Top 50 club starting the year at n°316!! Last week, she once made again a little of noise reaching the 2nd rd at Linz Tier II as aqualifer. In the qualies she only dropped 2 games vs 6th seed/n°52 Kostainc, before ousting n°20 Groenfeld in the main draw. She lost to talented 5th seed/n°15 Ivanovic in the 2nd rd but I' sure she's alreary eager for a revenge.
Yung Jan CHAN:
Another chinses girls to break the Top 100!! Yng Jan is only 17 y.o. Lastweek, she reached the SF at Beijing $50K challenger losing to promising n°219 Erakovic from New Zealand.
What a year for Alberta who may have found inspiration in the success of many italian girls on the tour. At 26 y.o, she performed her ever best year...now 2 spots from the Top 100! Last week, she made it to the QF at Bratislava $75K challenger upsetting 7th seed/n°79 Pin before falling to qualifer but eventual runner up n°144 Barrois.
Alla is up 7 places this week after reaching the final at Beijing $50K ousting Top seed/n°84 Bardina before losing to suprising n°219 Erakovic for the title.
Jorgelina is about to break the Top 150 after winning her 4th title of the year on the ITF circuit at Saltillo $25K. As 3rd seed, she took the title without facing seeded players and beatting in final qualifer n°460 Menna.
That former n°3 junior (may 2005) player revealed last week in her home country at Bratislava $75K challenger. As Wc, she won her 2nd ITF title after Rimini $50K upsetting 5th seed/n°64 Pironkova en route (her ever best victory) before overpowering qualifer n°144 Barrois in 2 sets.
Another highly ranked junior player (n°5 in april 2005) to break the Top 200. After winning 2 $25K challengers, Marina reached another step winning her ever 1rst $50K at Beijing ousting 3rd seed/n°129 Yuan, 2nd seed/n°101 YJ Chan and 4th seed/n°141 Kudryavtesva in final. 3 years ago, Monica Seles predicted a promising future to Marina as she hit the ball with her during an exhibition in New Zealand. It seems thatshe's on the good way to prove it!

Maria SARAPOVA n°2 (+1):
Maria is up one spot overtaking Henin Hardenne after winning her 2nd title in a row at Linz Tier II $600K. As Top seed, she beat her compatriot 2nd seed/n°5 in final in 2 sets drop)ping only 6 games. Maria is definitively the player "to beat" in that 2nd part of the year and she'll be the favourite for the Masters.

Ana IVANOVIC n°14 (+1):
Ana is up 1 spot and 1 from her best ranking after her QF at Linz Tier II $600K where she lost to Top seed/n°3 and eventual winner Sharopova in 2 tight sets (7/6 7/5). ana seems to recover her level after 2 desapointing early loss and may be she's motivated to overtake n°12 Jankovic who took her the national serbian Top ranking.

without playing, Anastasia is up one spot due to Hantuchova who lost points from Linz 2005 without playing due injury.

Revival year for Elini who's rising steadily in the world ranking (she's up approx 35 places since the end of last year). Last week, she reached the 2nd round at Linz $600K after qualifying.
