Agnieska RADWANSKA: Agnieska is not ready to stop her rise in the world ranking. She's now 4 spots from the Top 50 club starting the year at n316!! Last week, she once made again a little of noise reaching the 2nd rd at Linz Tier II as aqualifer. In the qualies she only dropped 2 games vs 6th seed/n52 Kostainc, before ousting n20 Groenfeld in the main draw. She lost to talented 5th seed/n15 Ivanovic in the 2nd rd but I' sure she's alreary eager for a revenge.

Yung Jan CHAN: Another chinses girls to break the Top 100!! Yng Jan is only 17 y.o. Lastweek, she reached the SF at Beijing $50K challenger losing to promising n219 Erakovic from New Zealand.

Alberta BRIANTI: What a year for Alberta who may have found inspiration in the success of many italian girls on the tour. At 26 y.o, she performed her ever best year...now 2 spots from the Top 100! Last week, she made it to the QF at Bratislava $75K challenger upsetting 7th seed/n79 Pin before falling to qualifer but eventual runner up n144 Barrois.

Alla KUDRYAVTSEVA:Alla is up 7 places this week after reaching the final at Beijing $50K ousting Top seed/n84 Bardina before losing to suprising n219 Erakovic for the title.

Jorgelina CRAVERO: Jorgelina is about to break the Top 150 after winning her 4th title of the year on the ITF circuit at Saltillo $25K. As 3rd seed, she took the title without facing seeded players and beatting in final qualifer n460 Menna.

Dominka CIBULKOVA: That former n3 junior (may 2005) player revealed last week in her home country at Bratislava $75K challenger. As Wc, she won her 2nd ITF title after Rimini $50K upsetting 5th seed/n64 Pironkova en route (her ever best victory) before overpowering qualifer n144 Barrois in 2 sets.

Marina Erakovic: Another highly ranked junior player (n5 in april 2005) to break the Top 200. After winning 2 $25K challengers, Marina reached another step winning her ever 1rst $50K at Beijing ousting 3rd seed/n129 Yuan, 2nd seed/n101 YJ Chan and 4th seed/n141 Kudryavtesva in final. 3 years ago, Monica Seles predicted a promising future to Marina as she hit the ball with her during an exhibition in New Zealand. It seems thatshe's on the good way to prove it!

FASTER MOVERS IN THE TOP 10, 20, 50, 100, 150, 200

TOP 10:
Maria SARAPOVA n2 (+1):
Maria is up one spot overtaking Henin Hardenne after winning her 2nd title in a row at Linz Tier II $600K. As Top seed, she beat her compatriot 2nd seed/n5 in final in 2 sets drop)ping only 6 games. Maria is definitively the player "to beat" in that 2nd part of the year and she'll be the favourite for the Masters.
Nicole VAIDISOVA n10 (+11): Nicole is back in the Top 10 after reaching the SF at Linz $600K falling to 2nd seed/n5 Petrova.

TOP 20:
Ana IVANOVIC n14 (+1):
Ana is up 1 spot and 1 from her best ranking after her QF at Linz Tier II $600K where she lost to Top seed/n3 and eventual winner Sharopova in 2 tight sets (7/6 7/5). ana seems to recover her level after 2 desapointing early loss and may be she's motivated to overtake n12 Jankovic who took her the national serbian Top ranking.
Anastasia MYSKINA n16(+1): without playing, Anastasia is up one spot due to Hantuchova who lost points from Linz 2005 without playing due injury.

TOP 50:
Eleni DANIILIDOU n36 (+5):
Revival year for Elini who's rising steadily in the world ranking (she's up approx 35 places since the end of last year). Last week, she reached the 2nd round at Linz $600K after qualifying. She lost to Top seed/n3 and eventual champion Sharapova with a strong opposition in the 1rst st (losing only 5/7 before giving up in the second).

TOP 100:
Agnieska RADWANSKA n54 (+12):
see above.

TOP 150:
Kristina BARROIS n129 (+15):
Kristina is up 15 places this week after reaching the final at Bratislava $75K. During that tournement she created the bigest upset ousting Top seed/n39 Safarova en route (her ever best victory in terms of ranking) before falling to promising WC n227 Cibulkova.

TOP 200:
Dominika CIBULKOVA n156 (+71):
see above.

As usual, don't hesitate to comment, I always appreciate it!

Um...not to raise any political dispute, but Yung-Jan is completely not under the same system as Li,Zheng( ),Peng... So the "another' seems not to be so appropriate,we're happy to finally have a Taiwanese girl reach top100 over a decade though. (note: Taipei is the capital city of Taiwan. )

Melbourne.

I'm not rooting for independence and I like you hong kong people,I like Chinese people, but face it hk_andy,communism in China Republic and democracy in Taiwan(or you like to call it Chinese Taipei) are two different things obviously.
