This is part of a french to english translation of an article published yesterday:
Mary Pierce refused similarly to surrender: "I have a feeling that it is not the instant to stop. And as long as I feel this, I am thoroughly going to devote myself. It is the first time that I hurt myself just like that and I know that it is a big test which is brewing for me. With my wound in the foot, I must stop for six months. But there, it is not similar. I know that this is going to be hard, with several months to have to compromise with pain. But there is indeed a reason for which it arrived at me. This is going to make me stronger."
She has the mental and physical strength to come back. And when I talked on the phone to her, in no way did I get the impression that she is finished.
What an inspiration - such belief and conviction, I just know that Mary will come back and that we will see her in Beijing 2008
Dokic Pierce didnt talk to her on the phone. It was Xavier Morea, Mary's trainer. Its a rough translation of a French article, Morea was telling French journalists of his conversation with Mary after the injury.
Re: Read this - so inspirational from Mary Pierce!
Mary has matured through the years into a wonderfully sensitive human being with a remarkably positive attitude and take on life.
She's already been through a lot, and many injuries have affected her career at stages where it seemed she was on her way to possibly win a huge lot... and now, to read these words is really inspirational.
It teaches a lesson to all of us, I think. And I believe some of her colleagues who're very prone to moaning and self-commiserating when their stomach's bothering them, or they call the trainer out of the blue on 5-5 in the third set... well, they might learn something, too
