2006 - Domination of Francophonie!!! (3 out of 4 GS Winners, 6 out of 8 GS Finalists)

When i say Francophonie, i mean only about unit and compac area which including France, Luxembourg and "French part" of Belgium and Swiss (less than 80M).

SEASON 2006:
AO: Amelie Mauresmo def. Justine Henin-Hardenne
RG: Justine Henin-Hardenne def. Svetlana Kuznetsova
Wimbley: Amelie Mauresmo def. Justine Henin-Hardenne
USO: Maria Sharapova def. Justine Henin-Hardenne

WORLD CURRENT RANKING (3 weeks before end of season):

#1. Amelie Mauresmo
#2. Justine Henin-Hardenne

Also, we must to know that Mary Pierce (last season RUNERUP of RG, USO, FED CUP and YEC) whole season have hard injury problems and also, that this year is very good for upcoming French stars T.Golovin, and A.Rezai, and also that M.Bartoli and S.Bremond have career best season.

and I'm not even fan of Ana Ivanovic... just an objective observer who realize how perfect she is

AMAZING BELGRADE MIRACLE: In just three years (2008-2011) 5 different players born in same city reach world #1 in rankings and several GS titles and finals (WTA singles: Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, ATP singles: Novak Djokovic, ATP doubles: Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor... with notable performances of Bojana Jovanovski, Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki which is also all three born in Belgrade)

so does Serena ...oh wait...not 2007 domination

and apparently according to CharlDa, Masha gave French a college try in 2003 at the Bell Challenge Final ceremony.

Career Grand Slam in your 20s? Been there done that. Career golden slam your 30s?
There's only 1.
Serena.

I only heard her speak french once, when she withdrew from the Open Gaz de France in 2005.
That was nice

So why did you include Luxembourg then??

Of course, nearly everybody speaks french but it's not the official language. Luxembourg people speak "Luxemboureois" with each other

OK... forget Luxembourg if you like... this thread is not about Language!!!

After 17 thread about 2006 Russians dominations i open one about 2006 real domination! France and "French part" of Belgium and Switzerland is not one country - but that is one unit area without doubt, and players from that territory realy dominate this year, more than players from Russia!

By Francophonie, you basically mean Amelie and Justine, who don't even hail from the same country. The whole Russian Tier 1 thing is more impressive.

A single flow'r he sent me, since we met./All tenderly his messenger he chose;
Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet - One perfect rose.
I knew the language of the floweret;/'My fragile leaves,' it said, 'his heart enclose.'
Love long has taken for his amulet/One perfect rose.
Why is it no one ever sent me yet/One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get/One perfect rose.

Sorry, but 3 out of 4 GS Winners, 6 out of 8 GS Finalists is much more impressive than 8 out of 10 tier-I winners!!!
