I know wishful thinking but I still find it amazing that they still haven't play eachother, oh and the same can be said about Vaidisova and Sharapova too!

I am not sure if they played each other in juniors. does anyone have the info?

Why is it wishful thinking? I see it as quite probable. I know Ana has been sort of spotty lately. But still, looking at what it would take to have this match-up happen, it looks almost like a lock.

I sure as hell know that I would love to see it. Two gorgeous babes with great games going at it.

Ana's got Misa then prob ALG/Aga... that's a tall order... considering she's just come back from injury...
but then again if they meet it would be nice... considering current form hehe

I hope it will happen. It can be an interesting match.
Maybe it's strange that they haven't met before, but Ana also hasn't played: Davenport, Clijsters, Hantuchova.

1. Ana Ivanovic

2. Maria Kirilenko
3. Anastasija Sevastova

Maybe, but I wouldn't count on it - Misa is a difficult first match back for Ana, and considering the lay-off Ana's rustiness may lead to her downfall...

I hope not, because I'd like to see her face off against Maria

I remember that at about this time in 2005, just before the Philadelphia TII, everyone was going "finally we may see Sharapova play Vaidisova". Didn't happen at the time, and almost a year later it still hasn't happened.

I feel that this matchup won't take place as well. I suspect Maria will withdraw either even before her first match or immediately afterwards.

Masha would win! Easily! Now she played a week in Zürich and win against a VERY good Hantuchova! She is in her game! She will be very good this week! SO it would be very difficult to win against Baby M!

Since she first started playing tennis at 4 years old Maria Sharapova has never lost to a player younger than she is. It's a remarkable record for Masha but I wonder what player younger than Maria will beat her for the first time in her entire career. I think an inform Ivanovic would have a good chance against Masha. And certainly Golovin on a good day would have a chance to beat Masha. But Sharapova losing to a younger girl hasn't happened yet.

Happiness is like a cat. If you try to coax it or call it, it will avoid you. It will never come. But if you pay no attention to it and go about your business, you'll find it rubbing up against your legs and jumping into your lap. - William Bennett

wow, that really is an amazing fact, its true that Maria hardly ever, ever loses to a player she shouldn't lose to, thats why she's so consistent.
i really would love to see ana playing maria too, although I don't think she would win. it will be so cool for a younger player to be the first time to defeat her, could be Vaidisova, if they ever play

I'll come right out and say it: Anyone who wouldn't be completely excited by a Sharapova v Ivanovic match is simply NOT A TENNIS FAN.

Forget that they are both babes. Forget that they are both teenagers. Forget that they are both *really* tall.

They each have a wonderful tennis game. And the fact that they haven't met yet is CRIMINAL. If you are a fan of tennis, you would want to see this match.

Hopefully it will happen, and hopefully it will be the first of many, in a long, long rivalry.
