Thumbs up HINGIS: I haven't played such a good match in a long time

I was helpless a little bit after the first set. It was just too good," said Hingis.

"She was hitting corners and there wasn't much I could do. I played such a great second set, and in the third it's a pity that I didn't hold serve in the second game.

"I had so many opportunities on her serve, like 30-15 here and there, but I haven't played such a good match in a long time. It was good to have one like that."

Well good. But she still lost...she needs to figure that out before the '07 season.

Taking the world number 4 to three sets its quite great after having lost recently badly against Razzano and Mirza.
Plus Svetlana is playing great at the moment won two events after the Usopen, semifinals at another event, so i think Martina is there, she fell short but she showed some progress.

I think she did pretty well! After all Svetlana was really playing well and we know when Svetlana plays well it's pretty hard to get past that unless you have power as well.

Martina done great today and she should be glad she played a great match! Good for her!

she played well, but I think Sveta was just on fire today, and I think she would have beaten anyone on her performance today

At least Hingis has been playing better now, and will (hopefully) play even better in Madrid

She has to improve no kidding, but playing well and feeling that you did well it´s also great.
She is leveled in matches against Svetlana losing both times in three sets and winning her two matches in straight sets, that says a lot.
Martina keeps playing fairly well against these top players, who would have predicted it a year before.

I'm a Hingis fan so I'm obviously disappointed, but I must say that she played a really good match, her serve has improved A LOT, and her net play was fantastic (as usual).

And Kuznetsova hasn't even come close to peaking yet, in my opinion. She's still very erratic and her attitude isn't always good.

But she's still a player with more potential than Hingis. She has to play badly to lose to her.

we can always count on steffica greles to show up after every hingis loss!

at least hingis is losing to kuznetsova, and not to a box of donuts like seles

Martina definitely played better than against Groenefeld and Razzano, and probably her whole summer! Svetlana is definitely a tougher opponent than all the ones she faced since RG, Martina can be proud of her performance and bring a positive attitude for YEC if she qualifies!
