hawkeye

this has been a fantastic success this year. watching zurich this week with no hawkeye has been extremely odd, and theres been so many dodgy calls.

according to the es commentator, it costs 40k usd to have hawkeye at a tournament. i cant believe these tournaments are run on such tight budgets that 40k usd is too much money.

surely hawkeye must be compulsory next year at all hardcourt slams and tier 1s.

I agree, it should be mandatory for all GS and T1s! It's very interesting for spectators and players can be sure that the call was right!

Well let's not forget that tennis has been in good shape for more than 100 years without hawkeye et al.

There have been many bad calls in Zurich for example, I agree.
But I put the blame on bad umpiring, especially lack of overrules.
When you have a competent umpire, the match will run smoothly and you won't even notice that there's no hawkeye.
Put one of the weak ones into the chair and trouble ensues.

It would be sad if the arrival of Hawkeye led to worse education of umpires because it's 'unnecessary'. It's not.
