Quote from Richard Williams right after RG final

"This is the American Dream come true. This is a dream that started in 1978. It's the most satisfying day of my life. This shows that it doesn't matter where you start, you can achieve anything."

Proud to be an American
Not blind. Not uninformed. We are party to atrocities. But the response of the world after 9/11 is worth noting. Even our most dire enemies offered aid. We should all be so lucky.

Richard is like a parent who pushed his kids to be doctors. Sure, it is not for every child to be pushed. But the children that can handle the pressure reach the top level of their field.

Venus and Serena were pushed and proved that they could reach the top of the tennis world. Congratulations to the Williams Family!

BTW, this is from the same USA Today article as the one with Richard's answers to questions about Jenn's comments. It's earlier in the article too. I find I can't really blame the writer this time. As a journalist, she does have to ask about it. That's her job. But it was nearly the last thing inthe article, like paragraph 16 or 17. The writer was fair, the article was basically positive, and the writer focused on good things, rather than re-hashing old 'bads'.

If we as readers choose to focus on the negative 10% of an article that's 90% positive, that's not the media's fault. We like to blame them for a lot of ills, but often, it's not what they write, it's what we as readers and watchers choose to focus on.

Amen...and I'm guilty of it myself. But it's my social conditioning of cheering for "the hero" and booing "the villain".
