lol - Dokic playing too much?

from bob larson's tennis news:

"Headlining the field will, of course, be Jelena Dokic, who finds herself in her customary situation of playing a tournament every week even when it can't make the slightest iota of difference in anything. (If Dokic wins, she's #8. If she loses, she's #8. If she had taken the last month off, she'd still be #8. That's what her schedule is like. She has apparently stopped playing doubles -- but she still refuses to take a week off.)"

lol - ok, maybe it's not THAT funny, but you have to admit, she does play an awful lot.

Lindsay Davenport - Anna Smashnova - Lisa Raymond - Sandrine Testud - Paola Suarez - Amelie Mauresmo - Virginia Ruano-Pascual - Nadia Petrova - Chanda Rubin - Cara Black - Tathiana Garbin - Anne Kremer - Monica Seles - Fabiola Zuluaga - Maria Sanchez-Lorenzo - Amanda Coetzer - Rita Grande - Meghann Shaughnessy - Magui Serna - Nathalie Dechy - Kim Clijsters - Elena Tatarkova - Maria Sharapova - Alicia Molik - Julia Vakulenko - Elena Likhovtseva - Anastasia Myskina - Emilie Loit

Hehehehe!

Of course she plays a lot. She will only stop when she is really burned out It's such a pity on wasting such talent

All the best to Anastasia Myskina, Elena Bovina and Svetlana Kuznetsova!
Watch out: Myriam Casanova, Maria Kirilenko and Maria Sharapova!

It really isn't news when she isn't playing one week, she is one of 3 players in the top 100 that have played over 30 tournaments.

There will be a point in her career when her body will simply burn-out because it can't take it anymore.

She has had lots of niggling injuries this season all because when she got her injury in Paris she didn't let the injury heal.

Also she is committed for all of the hardcourt events before the US Open which is simply insane because it is obvious that hardcourts cause the most injuries.

I just hope that she realises at some point that she is playing too much and will schedule better or otherwise she could be retiring much sooner than people think.

Does anyone know why she's playing all these tournaments, even with the constant threat of injury. Is it for the money? Is her father forcing her to play just to make more money. This is very disturbing. I know she's still young, but she could burn herself out in a few years. Does anyone know why she's playing all these tournaments back to back?

Are you crazy SM? She won ONE tier IV, and made the finals of a Tier 3. The Quarters of the french too, but it's not a stellar season by ANY stretch of the mind. I hope she plays until she burns out so she can realize hwat she's doing to her body, and STOP.

Jelena seems to have become a Manuela Maleeva for the 1990's.
Play a ton, become a permanent lower top tenner who never really challenges the top guns, and retire in her mid 20s very wealthy.

SM is right that 99% of the tour would die for that kind of career.
She'd challenge more for majors though if she played less and planned a sane schedule.
