I feel like there have been quite a few of these prodigies from INodnesia and then they don't seem to go anywhere...what is going on with Ayu-Fani Damayanti? And a few others? Even Angie has struggled mightily and she's very talented...it's like INdonesian tennis authorities don't know how to produce the players very well. I want another Yayuk.

Go Ai, Venus, Na, Tamarine!

I agree. Indonesia is not a rich country and their government does fund or support their athletes in the same way as other rich or more developed nations do.

But I wish this girl all the best.

They don't go anywhere because no finance, that's very typical in Indonesia...Ayu got injury in Bangkok last month...backbone injury...she has been going theraphy for her injury and now she is back in training...we will see whether she can play qual at Wismilak or not...she enters Jakarta 10Ks...

rockmyworld is certainly correct that Indonesian government pays no attention towards sport...to say the least, tennis is not a popular sport anyhow...Indonesian government and the sport bureaucrats are whole bunch of crooks!!!

Re: New tennis prodigy from Indonesia

Grace reached the SF of Widjojo Soejono Junior Championships.

Grace Sari YSIDORA (INA) (5) def. Rininta HIDAYAT (INA) 64 61
Grace Sari YSIDORA (INA) (5) def. Dwi ARIYANA (INA) 63 63
Grace Sari YSIDORA (INA) (5) def. Jawariah NOORDIN (MAS) (3) 2-6 6-0 6-3

She'd be playing Mia Sacca who upset the second seeded, Jessy Rompies. it would have been great to see how Grace fairs against the more experienced Jessy. Mia should be an easier opponent for Grace. Hope she can reach another final again.
