Aravene Rezai is very very impressive at US Open

I have been going to USO all week and checked out a lot of "newcomers" that I have not seen live before. Among them, Rezai impressed me more than anyone else. Her groundstrokes, both forehand and backhand, are powerful and relatively error-free. Her serve is good, too. Not to mention her composure and agressiveness. I say potential top 10 material.

Her last match with Kirilenko was flawless, reminding me of Shuai Peng when she defeated Clijsters in straight sets in San Diego. The only question is whether she can keep that level of intensity going.

I think she has an excellent chance to take out Dementieva. From there, a very good chance to reach SF since Jankovic/Sveta are even less dangerous than LenaD. Seriously I have the feeling she could be the darkest dark horse at US Open in years, but don't want to say too much at this point so as not to jinx her.

I was also impressed by Vika Azarenka and Aga Radwanska in different ways, but more to that later.

i agree she has a great game but i think she needs to get fitter-she isnt the quickest and tends to run out of steam in tournys

i love how everyone says any new up and comer has a good chance against dementieva.

i have a feeling dementieva will rout this girl 6-3, 6-0.

ROCK ON:
elena dementieva, serena williams, caroline wozniacki, ana ivanovic
david nalbandian, rafael nadal, andy murray, gael monfils, jo-wilfried tsonga

she is in no shape to play at a high level. she reminds me of seles at the 99 us open.

Monica Seles | Martina Hingis | Anna Kournikova

Comment: so you think that going to a 4th round in a grand slam is not playing at a high level?
Did you ever take a class in logic?

Aravane is a very talented player, I'm glad to see she is starting to live up to her potential. I hope she can give Dementieva a good challenge!

Serena Williams/Venus Williams/Angelique Kerber/Serena-Rose Zhang/Qrystyna Wang/Golden Flowers

If LenaD took out Bepa in str8s, I'd say she's in pretty good form.

However, my pick is that Jankovic is going to be the girl that comes out of this section into the semis.
