Davenport/Srebotnik and Schnyder/Bartoli are worse off...

These players are behind the others in their section of the draw, washed out from yesterday. Also considering both Bartoli and Srebotnik are in doubles as well, its just not too good for them. Also players who came in the tourney not so fit may focus too much on not reinjuring themselves on slippery courts that they wont be able to play their best.

I foresee a lot of withdrawals from doubles soon, leaving the doubles specialists and those who have lost in singles already to battle it out. Players like Peer, Jankovic, Na Li (Mixed as well), Petrova, Ivanovic, Golovin and Safina along with the 2 former mentioned, will have a lot to think about in the next few days. I am sure their doubles partners wont be pleased if they pull out. Poor Petrova . I am sure she wont be able to face the wrath of Navratilova if she withdraws....lol. Not when her "retirement" is coming soon.

Nadia can't withdraw from doubles; that would be so cruel.

Tatiana Golovin, Timea Bacsinzky, Petra Kvitova, Kristina Mladenovic, Laura Robson

Petrova is NOT allowed to withdraw...

If only Kirilenko had a good doubles partner, she'd climb the doubles charts. She's an excellent doubles player.

Safina and Srebotnik are playing as a team and could come to some agreement. Srebotnik is playing mixed; Safina has a chance her to get to the quarters; they can come to some agreement.

Peer - Bartoli are a team and both have a chance to get far here, too - same kind of situation.

To be honest I don't think doubles with hinder Li, and yeah.

But, to be fair - I don't think any of these teams were big favorites in the event to begin with, other than Navratilova/Petrova. The big teams are already out of singles - Raymond/Stosur, Yan/Zheng, Hantuchova/Sugiyama, Black/Stubbs, Peschke/Schiavone, Asagoe/Morigami ( Shinobuuuu I'll miss youuu) etc.

EDIT: If Nadia withdraws, I forsee a billion hate threads

Hantuchova/Sugiyama def. (1) Black/Huber 6-7(0) 6-3 7-6(10) saving SEVEN match points, down 2-5 in the third, and down 2-6 in the third set tiebreak in three hours

Ai Sugiyama. Jie Zheng. Zi Yan. Tamira Paszek.
Yaroslava Shvedova. Nuria&MariaJose. Yung-Jan Chan. Elena Vesnina. Flavia Pennetta.

If Nadia withdrew, Martina would throw a hissy fit, because Nadia stole her 2146903356904356th retirement glory.

I think you have a point if there is no play today and Lindsay keeps winning (arm willing) she will have to play three matches in three days to get to the quaters and then if she wins that four matches in five days. Not good for arm.

i highly doubt nadia will withdraw. she has way too much respect for navratilova to do that.
