The Justine fans' CONGRATS & HATS OFF to Amelie thread

Well done, Amelie! You did it!

I was half-rooting for her in spite of myself.

I'll say it again: GREAT JOB, Amelie!

JESUS

The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes. Ps. 36:1

The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Ps. 14:1, 53:1

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Prov. 1:7

...Behold, the fear of the LORD, that is wisdom; and to depart from evil is understanding. Job 28:28

Agreed! Well done Amelie! It was tough not being proud of the way she played today.

Both women deserved their round of ovation from the Wimby crowd!

I know, it is so incredibly hard to begrudge her the trophy, isn't it? Even though it's the second year in a row that someone I was rooting for so much went out in a tight three-setter in the final

I was so incredibly disppointed when Justine put the last one out, but seeing Mauresmo so happy made me smile inspite of myself, she really is a very likeable person.

Though I must admit I thought she was being just slightly bitchy when she made that remark about Justine being tired, it seemed like she felt that people would possibly use that as an excuse for Justine losing, and wanted to cut that off or something? Though I'm probably being paranoid or just slightly resentful , and anyway it hardly matters.

So yeah congratulations Amelie!! You did an INCREDIBLE job of holding your nerve (I guess she used up her entire nervousness quota against Maria in the second, eh? ) and serving it out, especially when I'm quite sure the whole of the tennis world was thinking, "Can she finally do it?"

She was the better player today. And above that she didn't give Justine much of a chance for a fight. So a totally deserved win!

If only I was sure that my head on the door was a dream
