I miss HBO every year

Wimbledon has been on for an hour and I have seen one match so far on ESPN. If HBO was still carrying the Championships I would have seen glimpses of maybe 6-7 match already.

Folks I know it's about money and ratings and that probably nobody wants to see Katie O'Brien against Tatiana Garbin..........but it do!!!!!!!!!!!!

HBO please get back Wimbledon!!!!!!!

Forgot to mention NO COMMERCIALS. And coverage started from 1st match of the day to last match like USA coverage of the US Open.

"I told her, `You don't want to get into a hitting battle with Sharapova, because it would be uneven for Sharapova, because Sharapova only has one good side and that's her backhand,"'. "`You don't want to get into that for the simple reason you would win. So try to hit some balls to her strong side, to her backhand, and that would help you with your match for tomorrow

And the commentators-- John Lloyd was great, and they all knew to SHUT UP when the point was in progress. (Although you had to put up with Jim "Stick to Football" Lampley as host.)

"If you practice for ten years, you may begin to please yourself, after 20 years you may become a performer and please the audience, after 30 years you may please even your guru, but you must practice for many more years before you finally become a true artist—then you may please even God." --Ali Akbar Khan, 1922-2009

Even TNT's coverage was much, much better than this.

Shame ESPN will soon pick up the US Open, too.

^ What? People who actually knew what they were talking about? OMG!

I was watching an Aussie televised version of the Serena/Sharapova Heavyweight Battle, and Martina is FAR AND AWAY a MUCH better commentator than Mary....players KNOW are the best ones....none of this Ted Robinson crap.

Career Grand Slam in your 20s? Been there done that. Career golden slam your 30s?
There's only 1.
Serena.

You are right and that is because Martina, ZIna and Billie Jean actually got to be apart of TNT coverage at that time.

ESPN is officially getting the US Open? I know it was in the works, I didn't know it was official.

I agree with the HBO thoughts. When a sport is on a network that is not ESPN, the channel savors it and handles it in a different way. On ESPN, tennis is given no respect and is often followed by drag racing or darts.

Hopefully ESPN does not get the US Open. :/

I don't think they have it yet. i remember reading in Tennis magazine that they are going to bid for it when USA's contract is up

Agreed about Navvy--but Garrison was a HORRIBLE commentator!! I'll never
forget the time she interviewed Sampras and asked him, "Have you bitten
any ears lately?"!!!!!! Good God, ya'll!!!
