Wimbledon Draw analysis (thoughts)

Mauresmo has a killer draw.
Her quarter is loaded with good players.
her route to championship is tough.
1-Abramovic
2-Krajicek(who has just won a grass court tournament)or Stosur (grass is her best surface)
3-Golovin
4-Safina or Ivanovic
5-Venus Williams or Myskina
6-Sharapova
7-Henin or Clisters.
only one match that she should win for sure.
five tough matches that she could loose.

Henin has the easiest draw I think
1-Yuan
2-Nakamura
3-Vesnina
4-jackson or Srebotnik
5-Hingis
6-Clijsters or kuznetsova
7-Sharapova
first four should be a cakewalk for her.
I think she just does everything a bit better than Hingis right now.
Clijsters or Kuznetsova has winning record agains both.
final only one she may not be favored in. Sharapova or one from the very top killer section.
three real hurdles and in 2 of them she has a winning record.

Sharapova has easy draw at the beginning
1-Smashnova
2-Kostanic
3-Santangelo
4-Pennetta
5-Dementieva(has a good record against her grass should emphasize serve)
6-who ever survives the killer section Mauresmo,Myskina, Safina, Williams
7-Henin or Clijsters
She only has two really tough matches.
Dementieva on grass should be ok for her.

Clijsters not the easiest and not the toughest draw
1-Zvonareva (could be tough test right at the beginning)
2-Kutuzova
3-Arvidsson
4-Gronefeld (has a good record against her)
5-Kuznetsova (fifty fifty)
6-Henin (probably will loose against Henin)
7-Sharapova or one from the killer section at the very top
potentially three tough matches. She will probably loose the second one.

I hope I am wrong and Vaidisova comes through.
However she has to go through Kuznetsova,Clijsters, Henin and top half.

Looking at the routes.
The most likely champions will be Sharapova or Henin.
What do you think?

Venus (unless if Golovin or Safina does a Vaidisova) vs. Sharapova
Hingis or Henin vs. Kuznetsova

I agree with your entire analysis, Zauber. The first quarter is so hard. Totally unfair.

I can only see Clijsters threatening Henin in her half - Hingis still seems to fall short against the very top and Kuznetsova often just doesn't seem to believe she has a chance when playing Henin. Most predictable finalist IMO.

Sharapova should make the SF without much trouble - but there she better be prepared for an extremely confident and battle-hardened opponent, whoever that might be at that point.

If she doesn't let herself be taken by surprise by Zvonareva she should make it to the SF without too much trouble. Just like Sharapova, Kuznetsova suffers a bit from a 'I-can't-win-from-these two-Belgians-syndrome'.
