Dutch thieves steal diamond racket

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, June 19 (UPI) -- A diamond-studded replica tennis racket disappeared from a jewelry exhibition in The Netherlands during the weekend.

Expatica said the racket was being moved from the Amstel Hotel to a waiting car when thieves moved in.

The racket, owned by Coster Diamonds, is a replica of the Belgium's Diamond Award tennis racket, which goes to whoever wins the Diamond Games in Antwerp three times in five years.

No value was given for the replica but the original is worth $1.26 million.

The replica was made for a diamond museum opening in Amsterdam.

Kindof stupid though... it's not like they're going to be able to resell it very easily, and I suppose they're not going to use it to play with...

MARIA SHARAPOVA: "Amélie, you know it doesn't really matter at this point. I mean, I'd love to, I mean, Amélie is No. 1 in the world. She's playing great tennis. You know, I love that challenge of going out there and competing against the best in the world."
You'd love to what, Maria?

they can take out the diamonds and melt the gold, unless the diamonds had laser etched serial #s on them

I wonder if the real one has "blood diamonds" from a place like Liberia or Sierra Leone in it. And I'm sure that tournament owner Octagon, prime sponsor Proximus, and the WTA could't give a FF if it does. Maybe the players do... nah, its just another kind of bling.

19. In the period from January to April 2006 Dr. Skalny sent very detailed messages to Ms Sharapova [...]: “Mildronate 1-2 X 10, repeat in 2 wks (before training or competition)”; “1 hr before competition, 2 pills of Mildronate”; “During games of special importance, you can increase your Mildronate dose to 3-4 pills (1 hr before the match). However, it is necessary to consult me on all these matters (please call)”; “30 minutes prior to a training session: Mildronat – 1 Capsule. 30-45 minutes prior to a tournament Mildronat 2 capsules”.

The theif has to be someone with no chance of winning ... ever.

I think the police should bring Schiavone and Hantuchova in for questioning.
