Will Maria be the new Jelena?

I really hope not, but Maria keeps losing to players she should beat and normally beats. This is not like her, and she screamed at her Dad, and I don't know...it just seems that her career might be over . I mean, Jamea Jackson on grass? That should be a 6-0; 6-2 victory, and would have been the last two years.

Yuri is over the top but he seems to realize what's best for Maria. Damir is psychotic. He did such nasty things to Jelena, Yuri would never do that. Jelena said she can't even have a conversation with Damir coz they can't agree on anything. Seriously those two parents don't even compare

Dude your over reacting shes 19 years of age, shows she is expected of great things if she has one bad loss in her career and all of a sudden a possible multi winning slam career is over!

Maria Sharapova
World Number One
Maria Kirilenko|Nicole Vaidisova

.Tatiana Golovin.Nadia Petrova.Ana Ivanovic.Olga Poutchkova.
.Caroline Wozinacki.Anna ChakVetadze.Anna-Lena Groenefeld.

Ya know Anyway, Jamea has a decent grass game. Last year even though she couldn't beat Lindsay in the 2nd rd, she gave her a minor headache by prolonging the points. She doesn't give up which is why I think she got the better of Maria Give her her props for crying out loud

well her loss to Jamea wasn't that bad. Maria had worse ones (like to Linzi), but I bet there will be more... Because it's impossible to go through career without them. The best of the tennis bests had them.

Oh I know exactly what you mean all 6 off her losses this year (yes you may think your eyes are decieving you but yes she has lost 6 whole times, it really is that many) have been to player she should be able to beat.

How on earth did she lose to Justine? (twice as well to someone ranked as low as Justine)
And then to Hingis, how could she lose to a player that will amount to nothing.
Lets not forget Svetlana - what has she done this year?

[end sarcasm]

Maria has one bad loss and people act like she could pack this whole tennis lark in. you'd think by people's reactions that she's not won a match all year and the players that have beaten her where ranked 100 (or so) places below her.

Well, Maria fans have a right to some concern, just as Serena fans did with her under achieving after US Open 1999. Her next major was in 2002, but she did pretty well for about a year and a half after that.

Fact is that many players now KNOW her game better and are able to defend better.
Maria needs to add more variety to her game, like Serena did in those less productive years.

Maria has the talent to win more majors and I suspect that she will as her game improves.

I often wonder if she's going to turn out to be a one slam wonder like Iva Majoli or Sabatini
