Unhappy #1 Seed Has Not Won The Last 9 Grand Slams Bodes Ominously for Amelie @ Wimbledon

the #1 seed has not won a GS since Juju took home the AO 2004 title.

in fact, we have had 9 different seeds win the last 9 slams

6th seed Myskina
13th seed Sharapova
9th seed Kuznetsova
7th seed S Williams
10th seed Henin
14th seed V Williams
4th seed Clijsters
3rd seed Mauresmo
5th seed Henin

this follows a period when the #1, #2, #3 and #4 seed took all the slams between US OPEN 2000 and AO 2004, with the #1 seed bagging 5 slams

I am worried about Amelie because I don't think she performs well as the #1 seed the pressure will mount again even though the tournament is not in France

If logic/patterns follow, I'd love to be the #2, #8, #11 or #12 seed.

She will be #1 but she won't go in as favourite, it is very open and any number of players are capable of winning it. I don't think she will feel any pressure, she usually is relaxed at Wimbledon it is probably a relief after RG.

Interesting. Am I right in saying there has NEVER been an unsseded female player win Wimbly?

NBC said in their coverage that No 2 seed didn't win RG men's title for quite many years. but Nadal made it right?

What's she supposed to do, throw some matches to ensure she slips to No. 2 before a major?
I think this just reflects that maybe 5-10 years ago, No. 1 connoted dominance over the tour and predictability on who would win majors or tournaments. It doesn't anymore, it connotes who can win a major in the last 12 months and a handful of other tournaments and remain healthy. I'm not cutting up anyone who is No. 1 recently, it's just doesn't mean exactly what it used to, for better or worse.

Didn't know Jennifer was seeded in the top four during the '01 Australian Open?????

I do find it interesting that being a top four seed no longer guarantees a spot in the semi's or finals.

It doesn't bode anything. There isn't some unseen force preventing number 1 seeds from winning.

19. In the period from January to April 2006 Dr. Skalny sent very detailed messages to Ms Sharapova [...]: “Mildronate 1-2 X 10, repeat in 2 wks (before training or competition)”; “1 hr before competition, 2 pills of Mildronate”; “During games of special importance, you can increase your Mildronate dose to 3-4 pills (1 hr before the match). However, it is necessary to consult me on all these matters (please call)”; “30 minutes prior to a training session: Mildronat – 1 Capsule. 30-45 minutes prior to a tournament Mildronat 2 capsules”.

Can a sista get the entire stats for the #1 seed winning grandslams since the OPEN ERA?

I want to compare Ame's odds.
