In 1998, Aranxta came into the finals of the French with a 3-14 record to Monica Seles. Svetlana will have to call on for some of that Spanish mojo in order to win on Saturday.

Isn't this more of an Arantxa 1989 as Sveta is facing the defending champion and the overwhelming favorite?

Time to tell Sveta to "play" Justine and not "pray" to Justine.

Since September 2002:
33 singles titles
33 doubles titles
7 mixed doubles titles
7 Fed Cup titles

Debut record: 14 out of 24
Retired: Oct. 23, 2006

i love arantxa, two classic wins in her career... amazing

It will always be Arantxa, hall of famer! and martina hingis and kim clijsters - amazing legends
ana ivanovic and the italian girls, especially pennetta (forza azzurre! RG CHAMP FRANCESCA AND FINALIST SARA!)
aga, vika, sam, na in the next tier
NEVER say "I don't care who wins, I just want good tennis"

Sveta won her 2 biggest finals, USO and Miami.
I think she will play well

Despite the H2H - I'm truly astonished it's so lopsided - Kuznetsova is a player that can hurt Justine on any surface. We should not be so surprised at Kuznetsova's passage to the final, when you think that she still is registered with the Sanchez Casals academy.

She is very quick horizontally and vertically on the court, has variety (though she often chooses not to use it), and she can hit Justine off the court. The problem is that she often hits her own self off the court in the process.

She's even got Aranxta on her side.. I think she'll play very well. Looking at their clay matches - 7-5, 7-5, 7-6 in the final sets - they are pretty evenly matched and I know Justine respects her abilities enormously. She doesn't pick her practice partners at random

Mostly what's lost her matches against Ju on clay has been not playing the big points well. Whether that trend continues is up to Svetlana. We'll see.
