Will the best player please stand up!?!

Who is the best (woman)tennis player in the world?
In the history of women's tennis the answer has never been this unclear. Historically, it has usually ben one player oa close call between two players.
I decided to look at this years records of the candidates. The magnificient seven. (eight now)
To be a candidate, the player must have won a tier 1 or tier 2 tournament this year.

1. Mauresmo

you counted a W/O Henin def Petrova but you also left off fedcup results which i think should be included in W/L as long as its not a dead rubber

Sorta irrelevent, and not meant to be a bash or insult, but lose is spelt with ONE "o". Its Lose, Losing, Loses, and Loser. Otherwise you're saying loose, like a rope is loose.

It doesn't seem that difficult to decide who's the best player this year. Mauresmo is clearly at the top, with a slam, the number 1 ranking, and number 1 in the race. The race for second-best so far became a lot more interesting with Nadia's flawless (WTA tournament) clay season.
