Rome CH W Justine HENIN (BEL) 7-6(6) 6-4
* Starting with Toronto last year, Serena has failed to make the finals of a tournament twice. She retired in the Sydney semis, and she lsot to Patty Schnyder at Charleston.

* She's only lost seven matches in the past twelve months, so only 1 'bad loss' isn't as impressive as it seems.

* It's all good. Except those QF exits at Roland Garros and Wimbledon

You can make a case that Serena Williams is the most consistently good player on the tour.

Proud to be an American
Not blind. Not uninformed. We are party to atrocities. But the response of the world after 9/11 is worth noting. Even our most dire enemies offered aid. We should all be so lucky.

Very impressive stuff, Rena.

Had you not been injured at the start of the year, who knows how much more impressive your record would be!

Good luck at RG 2002!!!!!

what at an consistency from the queen, I am so happy she realised she had to change something after wimbledon last year and what a change it was

In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the desert of the truth
To the river so deep
We all end in the ocean
We all start in the streams
We're all carried along
By the river of dreams
In the middle of the night
