Sony Ericsson Unveils Game-Changing Innovations

http://www.wtatour.com/newsroom/?ContentID=325

The package of innovation changes, which follows on the heels of the first-ever introduction of electronic line calling at the NASDAQ-100 Open, includes (1) pre-match player interviews so fans can hear what players are thinking as they are about to step on the court; (2) coaches' interviews during matches; (3) placing of wireless microphones on players during practice; (4) enhanced microphones on court and in the umpire's chair to bring the true sound of play to viewers at home; and (5) coordination with broadcasters to reduce on-air pre-match warm ups so that TV viewers are taken right to match action.

sounds good to me

Loving #4 the most, you gotta love hearing what players yell at themselves and say on court, as well as grunting

Our fans and broadcasters are telling us that they want to get closer to our players, and to feel the incredible athleticism and energy that is women’s professional tennis,” said Larry Scott, CEO of the Sony Ericsson WTA Tour.
Stalkers?

But seriously, I know there are some players who would get pretty annoyed about having to give an interview before their match. Didn't Lleyton Hewitt get into trouble a few years ago for refusing to give a pre-match interview because he felt it would make him lose his focus?

I also wonder whether many players will be thrilled about having to wear radio mics during practice. Won't they be discussing things with their coaches that they would rather the general public and their next opponent did not hear?

Agnieszka Radwanska Vera Zvonareva • Laura Robson • Donna Vekic Heather WatsonElina Svitolina Melanie Oudin • Andrea Petkovic

I don't mind them, but I don't think they need to enhance the sound when Sharapova plays.

Nope I don't like that one either, it's a sport, I don't want to be that involved, I want to watch tennis, that's it

All sound pretty good to me, except the first one! I'm not sure how popular being interviewed as they are about to step onto the court would be with the players, when they're trying to focus and concentrate on the match they're about to play!

Amélie Mauresmo

2004 - WTA Ranked Number One!!

2005 - YEC Champion!!
