Umm Maria has been on the WTA tour for 3 seasons now, so she really isn't new enough. But I don't think Mirza is necessarily young either but whatever.

Tatiana Golovin, Timea Bacsinzky, Petra Kvitova, Kristina Mladenovic, Laura Robson

:retard: Pierce should have easily gotten comeback player of the year. The last time Mary was in the top 10 was way back in 2000 When she won Roland Garros.

i sorta agree wih you but i mean clijsters started the year 139th in the world.she won iw and miami went on to win uso and get the #1 ranking in the world.pierce made 2 gs finals won the acura and kremlin and made it in the top ten.made yec final too.i think clijsters had the edge in it by a small margin.just because she won a grandslam and was #1.

Clijsters was away from top form for no more than a year. Pierce hadn't played that kind of tennis for about 5 years with all her injuries that plagued her and her fitness was terrible. Her comeback was far and above better than Clijsters' comeback because it took that much more dedication and Pierce wasn' beating the top 10 players with regularity while Clijsters had been doing that ever since 2001 and hasn't stopped. Don't get me wrong Clijsters was the clear #2 for this pick, but the WTA should have gave some regocnition for the year Pierce had.

I'm happy for Myskina. I dont know why. At least all her efforts to promote the tour are getting recognized. She's even selling Starbucks now.
