So how much exactly will Linds and Serena be fined?

They are both out of Miami with Justine a possible third casualty. So, what happens when a player withdraws from a mandatory event with an injury?

Will they be fined more? less? anything?

Nothing, right? If it's with an injury, they should not be fined.

I think nothing happens if the player is injured.

"I dream of people watching me holding up my third Wimbledon trophy... Most of all I dream of being a good person to all that are inspired by me I dream of having girls, women, boys, men being fond of not only what I have done on the tennis court, or on the big screen or what I design but I dream of what people think of me as a person.
I dream that people think of me as a giving person as a person that
loves life and is fun to be around." - Serena

I can't state this for a fact but Lindsay will most likely use one of two medical exmptions a player is entited to. I read somewhere else that a play is entitled to medical exmptions a year so in Lindsay case there shouls be no fine.

But Miami is a so called mandatory event. That is why I even brought up the thread.

What about Bovina will she be fined as much as Davenport and Serena?

Players earning more should be fined more, ithink the fine for top players is $100.000+

I wondet whether the fine is the same for all players. If a player like Na li were to forfeit, would it be fair to fine her the same as lindsay or even mary? Seeing that serena is now ranked 61, perhaps her fine would be so negligible as well. Good thread!

Rena- a tennis great! 22 at striking distance.

Its all a bit bizzare for me. I think that whole idea of mandatory events is bad!

They'll be fined regardless of injury. In a mandatory event, the directors realize that a player can just 'pretend' to be injured just to get out of the fine. So i'm almost positive injured players get punished. Maybe players who have existing injuries (Bovina) will be exempt, but players like Dav or Henin will not be exempt.

Really though. How much of an issue is MONEY to these people ??
$50,000 is SUCH a tiny amount to them, it won't make a tiny dent in their accounts.

I guess a big ranking points deduction would be more heavy to them!

The thing is, the tour is not accepting these withdrawals as legitimate injury pull outs, which is why Serena is drowning in bonus pool fines, somewhere in the neighborhood of $400,000.
