What level of success would get you to play professional tennis?

Reading the Jam/Ashley article made me think about what level of success it would take for professional tennis to be attractive for me. Would Justin Gimelstob level of success be OK for me? Or Nancy Loeffler-Caro level? Or would it take Roger Federer level?

What level of success would you need to have in order to be a professional tennis player? Would you play for the love of the game and an economic loss, as some clearly do? Or would you have to be a slam winner and #1? Or somewhere in-between?

My ego is too big, I'd need at least one major with a long stint in the Top 10.

Of course I'd like to be a Hall of Famer, but I think that despite my ego, I would play for the average success of someone in the top 32.

Wouldn't be too difficult being #1 today. Today's players aren't up to much, are they, really?

I would like to be a solid top 10 to top 5 player with at at least 1 to 2 slams anything more than that would be a bonus. I would also like pretty decent sponsors and being pretty famous wouldnt hurt.

1. At this level you can always move up.
2. Surprising how much money ladies in this group have accumulated over the years. And it beats working at a desk job.
3. Would be hard work, lot of fun, get to see the world, stay healthy.
4. Would last maybe 10-15 years, then I could do something different.

Hell yeah, I would do it if I could be at this level.

Surprising how many people would require a higher level to involve themselves. You got something better going on now? Do tell!!

Being ranked between 110-200 would get me to do it.

As long as I was ranked in the top 100, I wouldn't quit.

eh, I'd have to be a Serena type. And only then would I do it part-time.

I wouldn't want to give up my best years.

I would try to go for as much as possible, might not work, but if I would play tennis I wouldn't be able to settle with just solid results, I would like to have more then that, as Maria said it (and Serena I know) shoot for the moon if you miss you'll still be among the stars
