adidas 3 stripes will be banned from Wimbledon

adidas “3 stripes”
From 26 June 2006, the ITF and Grand Slams will consider the adidas “3 stripes” as a manufacturer’s identification and all Chair Umpires and Supervisors are required to ensure that the “3 stripes” are within the new size limitations outlined above. Until 26 June 2006, there is no restriction on adidas “3 stripes” at ITF and Grand Slam events.

not sure why you say they will be banned They just will probably be reduced in size, but that only fair. Nowhere could I find anything about ban and about Wimbledon

In Dubai, next to the court booking desk there was a sign saying something very similar.

The 3 Adidas stripes are NOW considered as sponsor's logo and hence must adhere to the logo size requiremnets. Players should not wear the Adidas 2005 line of clothing, with some exceptions, which i don't remember...

I see it as a fair, but unfortunate move.
I loved the stripes.

That's kinda dumb because the 3 stripe has always defined "adidas"

This is due to Nike's vociferious complaing about Adidas because they think the three stripes are the same as the Nike swoop and are pissed that Adidas gets to include three stripes as part of their design element on costumes when Nike can't.

This is an ITF decision that will affect all Grand Slams, not Wimbledon alone...

*teehee*

Seriously, I'm not that surprised. Wimbledon *loves* being ridiculously strict.

Well when you're logo is a 'swoop' then it's your own fault, and you can't complain.
