Matt Cronin on Serena's Withdrawl

from tennis-x

"If she was committed, like she was at the turn of last year when she won the Aussie Open, she could rehab, but she's not," said tennis reporter Matt Cronin. "It's the least well-kept secret in the sport that she's found plenty of time to hit the New York and L.A. party circuit, but has devoted little time to get in shape and practice her sport...It's a very sad state of affairs for Serena, who, with the exception of her mom, surrounds herself with a clucking group of enablers. Like Tom Cruise, she disdains so-called "negative" people. She wants people around who keep telling her how very cool she is, and how very sexy she looks."

YIKES

I wonder if this is one of Matt's bull shit stories or if he knows something I DONT want to know....

The fuse had been lit; here we go.......................

"When we are young we generally estimate an opinion by the size of the person that holds it, but later we find that is an uncertain rule, for we realize that there are times when a hornet's opinion disturbs us more than an emperor's" - Mark Twain

"The noblest work of God? Man. Who found it out? Man." - Mark Twain

"Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats." - H.L. Menken

Since when does a Simpons' producer have any say on tennis? I swear, they all have opinions today!

What's funny to be about this is that if a bunch of people wrote this man and told him his articles suck ass, he would write us off as not only being negative but that we can't handle the truth about one of our favorite players. From day one, the sisters have said tennis is not nor will ever be THE priority in their life, yet people continue to write things as if they've said tennis is the be all and end all. It seems the people with the biggest problems with the sisters lack of play are the people who can't handle the truth themselves. What many people also forget is that the "lack of dedication" from the sisters (going to movie premieres, tv shows, etc.) is why tennis has had most of its exposure in the last few years.

RIDE OR DIE! Down for Venus Williams

She doesn't have to play tennis. She has the money.

Serena is not a child anymore and can do what she feels like doing.

She doesn't hurt anyone not playing, nobody got the right to be sad or mad about it.

People who have achieved as much as her should have a right to live their own way.

1. Venus Williams
2. Na Li
3. Serena Williams
4. Jelena Jankovic
5. Ai Sugiyama

So true!

Not to mention that they are the same poeple who've said the sisters are too dominant, the sisters aren't good for tennis, and blah blah blah blah!

When they play and win, their critics look for petty things to try and tear them down. Then, when the ladies are down or not playing it's sad because they don't care about tennis and won't be as great as they could be.

Nothing but the bumbling hypocrtitc fork-tounged asses!

Of course. Heck, people who have achieved LESS have a right to live their own way. But just because she has a right to make a decision doesn't mean it's beyond criticism or comment.

I don't pretend to know what mix of injury, shifting priorities, lack of motivation or whatever is truly behind it, but it seems a great talent is going to waste.

Lets face it, there are a lot of people capable of being b-list celebrities and getting their picture taken by the paparazzi. There are/have been very few human beings who can do what Serena is capable of doing on a tennis court. It is absolutely her decision if she wants to do other things, but it seems a shame to lose that.

Reason is poor propaganda when opposed by the yammering, unceasing lies of shrewd and evil and self-serving men.

You think fans go to tennis tournaments because Serena goes to movie premieres .... ?

Ofcourse, but it's a different ballgame when
some of these people fan/critic alike act as if
Serena owes them anything. Explanation or
otherwise.

She will regret it bigtime in 10 years ....

I'm sorry but who the fuck does he think he is criticizing who Serena wants to hang out with... it's her business ... and it's Serena's choice whether or not she wants to work hard for her tennis ... she's not 10 years old ... she knows what she needs to do and we'll just have to wait and see if she decides to do it... regardless I'll always be a fan whether she plays again or not
