talentuos young american players seeking desperatly

I’m wondering who’s the best among young american players, capable to get top 20 within two years. Shenay Perry ? Jamea Jackson ? Vania King ? Jessica Kirkland ? Alexa Glatch ? Ashley Harkleroad ? I like Shenay Perry but I wouldn’t go so far to say she will be the new Venus Williams.

The only people I can see even making the top 50 or above are King, Perry, Harkleroad(already been there though), and Jackson.

fuck.

It seems like the Americans would have to re-work their system a bit though, because now all the girls from Russia and East Europe are working SO incredibly hard from SUCH a young age, and they have this incredible work ethic and attitude instilled into them even when they are in Juniors. So these American girls who don't have that are finding it really tough when they come up against these girls who are already really physically conditioned and mentally tough. Probably it wasn't so necessary 10 years ago but that really became such a big part of even the Junior game now.

King is the best of the junior girls, the under 18 ones. She can play good against the pros.

Perry and Harkleroad are probably the best older girls, even though they are still young themselves.

fuck.

I don't know all the details (it was posted somewhere though), but she broke a few bones and, at some point, she thought she would have to stop her tennis career.

agreed. It amazing (and worrisome) though that with so much investment from USTA, the return is so low (not just in womens, but in mens tennis as well). I think USTA made a big error a few years ago encouraging and promoting hard court tennis (which is less expensive), so all they got is a bunch of one dimensional players who are now losing to even one dimensional players from other Europe (let alone complete ones like JHH) because they are not hungry. US Juniors know that they can always fall back on other careers (go to college) and make a very decent living.

I agree America should have embraced the WS because they will be last of the Great American Tennis players. The only way America will have another Great Champion like the WS, they must be willing to go into the enter cities and pluck them out because some of the country club born kids just don’t have the fight and will power the WS, Russians and Belgium’s have. The WS, Russians, and Belgium had to fight through poverty and crime to become the champions they are that’s why that have been the power house of the WTA. Like on the ATP, Andy Roddick will never win another Grandslam because he was to pampered and spoiled to be a true fighter.
