Indian Wells first round - Shuai Peng vs. Stephanie Foretz - who will win

Well, my girl Peng Shuai is back!!

Apparently she has been out of shape physically and mentally, from what I'm reading in the articles that our Chinese members have translated.

Peng last played AO, lost in 1R to Harkelroad in 2 sets.
Previously she played Sydney, lost in 1R to Ivanovic in 2 sets.
Previously she played Hopman Cup, and won over Krajicek.

Stephanie Foretz......... well, I don't know anything about her. So please tell me about her game and the chances against Peng. She seems to be a small French woman ranked 84.

They actually do have one h2h with Peng over Foretz in 3 sets in 2004 (Cincinnati hard court) in the qualifying rounds.

OK, those who know more about Foretz, especially, your thoughts please!

I think Shuai can win this in straight sets.

I'm going for Peng in 3, she is short of match-practice and confidence so it could be tight...I say Peng d. Foretz 7-5 5-7 6-2

Good luck Shuai!

Peng in three due to her lack of practice.

OK but haven't seen anything about Stephanie Foretz... what would be good to know about her game and her playing history?

She isnt the best mover. A pretty good server when she is on.
She has a bit of a power game with some spin.
One of the few women who wears glasses on court (Razzano, Navriltilova, Foretz).

Very inconsistent but continues to find ways to stay in top 100.
Biggest Career wins came against Seles in 2003. Anna Lena in 2006 at Paris.

Just too inconsistent in my opinion to beat Peng right now.
Unless Peng comes out there and hits 40 unforced errors, she will likely beat Foretz in 2 sets.

Thank you

I'm a little nervous about Peng now, based on everything i've read between AO and Now - but I think she will take it in 2 or 3, maybe 3 - drop the first set then take the next two.
