Legacies 20 years from today
From those of us who are currently actively following tennis it is easy to gage the ability of a number of players who have not performed up to their potential whether due to lack of motivation, injury or illness. 20 years from now, however, those looking back on these years will largely rely on mere numbers (similar to how we judge players like Navratilova, Evert, Court and Graf today). In light of this "objective" criteria—and without extensive knowledge of qualitative criteria— how will the current crop of players stack up?
Whose legacy benefit the most from a statistics analysis as opposed to a qualitative one?
Will Serena's legacy be tainted by her recent lack of form/injury?
Will Justine's 2005 be viewed in the context of her illness/injury?
