The worst player to reach a GS Semi

and also the best player who won a tier IV and challenger, believe me I am Interested.
Also the worst player who won a challenger, tier 1, 2 and 3 and obviously the best.
I can also add the best/worst to reach a GS QF.

I am just trying to compress the worst and the best into one thread, then a million scenarios can be thrown up

Claudia Porwick and Belinda Cordwell both reached Australian Open semi-finals, and not in the 70s wilderness years either-neither achieved anything like as much as much-maligned Alex Stevenson. Clarissa Fernandez, as 461 Man pointed out.

What about "Who is the worst player to lose 6-3 6-3 after leading 3-1 in the first set in the first round of Wimbledon?"

Cordwell did well enough in '89 to finish in the top 20. That always surprised me.

I disagree ith the inclusion of Marianne in this list. Marianne scored some good wins in her career, admittedly outside of the Grand Slams, where her best performance was left for Melbourne in 1995.

However, Marianne boasted victories over Sanchez Vicario (twice in 1996 while Sanchez was ranked either 1 or 2), Huber (top 5 at that time) Hingis, and she also once took a 0-6 set of of Graf, who remarked that if Marianne had kept up her play of the first set, she would have lost the match without any doubt.

Zuluaga maybe, she had a real easy draw to the Australian Open semis.
