OZ Open First Round: Venus vs. Pironkova

Please post your predictions here
It's my all time fave first GS main draw appearance

and she's facing one of my other favourites.... I hope it will be a very interesting match and I'll be able to see Tzveti for the first time on TV

... I think she'll surprise everyone mostly with a good game and who knows maybe more

My #1 in tennis

Easy win for Miss Vee. She's focused and upbeat. Pironkova won't lay a glove on her. Venus will take it to the latest "ova" 2 & 2.

Last time they played in Turkey, Pironkova won only four games.

I think it will be a similar score line. Pironkova will be playing her first main draw slam match against a world class player and probably will be too overwhelmed.

Pironkova could stay with her for a few games, Venus starting slow etc., but I expect it to be like 6-3 6-1 or something.

I picked the third option. I like Pironkova, and I hope she'll push Venus a little bit, but this frankly isn't the Venus that Pironkova played in Istanbul last year.

Tszveti's best surface is clay though, not too good just yet on hard court. No challenge for Vee I think. Although Vee might use it as a chance to work on different elements of her game.

But I'm excited to see Tszveti on tv for the first time too.

I have to say, Chris Fowler on ESPN cracks me up!

"Coming up later, Venus Williams vs. ................... Pironkova." Although the only thing better will be to see how badly Brad Gilbert butchers Tszvetana's name!

Did anyone see the little rectangle that comes up with the pictures of the players and their names. When it says the match is still to come. The picture of Venus was so BEAUTIFUL!
