Exclamation The season 2006 will be ... SWISS !!!

I waited to see how well would play for her comeback before creating this thread. But now that's official, the will tennis players are going to dominate the Tour
With Patty playing at - nearly - her best level, and Martina making a great comeback, there isn't any reason to not see them in the big tournaments' finals or so.
And of course, don't forget the BOSS Roger Federer who's leading the ATP Tour.

For example, look at this week, the first one of the Tour. Martina reached the semis. Patty and Roger in QF who will surely reach the semis as well.

This year is going to be exciting

Federer will be tennis king in next 5 years (minimum), but in WTA 2006 season will be one of best in history - maybe most dramatic and uncertain season ever, so thanks god for Martinas comeback - crash and chaos will be total.

and I'm not even fan of Ana Ivanovic... just an objective observer who realize how perfect she is

AMAZING BELGRADE MIRACLE: In just three years (2008-2011) 5 different players born in same city reach world #1 in rankings and several GS titles and finals (WTA singles: Ana Ivanovic and Jelena Jankovic, ATP singles: Novak Djokovic, ATP doubles: Nenad Zimonjic and Daniel Nestor... with notable performances of Bojana Jovanovski, Janko Tipsarevic and Viktor Troicki which is also all three born in Belgrade)

Uh.. well I don't really see either Martina or Patty winning a GS title this year, so I don't think it's really going to be a Swiss year, but hey who knows, you may be right.

That means nothing. Nadal beat Federer when he was sick and on clay. Then he chokes away a chance at a title. Plus, it's not even about just one player being able to beat him. It's can the tour consistently beat him to prevent him from dominating. The answer is no. Rafa isn't even physically ready to play right now. The fact is, on grass Roger will beat anyone. So he's got a slam already. At the Open he is just as dominant, and will probably win the Aus again. On clay, he is vastly improving so really, I see the same dominance from Federer.

As for the original post, I doubt this will be a swiss year. Martina just came back and she hasn't even played one of the top players yet. There are just too many good players these day to see any form of dominance. And Patty....top ten is the best she'll do. She's seen her glory days, and she'll only be able to maintain her status. SHe won't be able to get much better.

hunger, desire, fire..........
stength, power, precision.........
talent, court sense, smartness........
no i am not talking about a racket or a squirrel, i am talking about the former and future number 1..............
martina hingis!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Luck Justine Henin Hardenne, Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, Mary Pierce, and any of my other favorites that I might have forgotten about at this moment.

Probably a bit early to make such bold predictions. I'm still not sure how Martina is going to go against a top player.

Nothing would make me happier to see her add singles Slam #6 to her trophy cabinet but i think i'm asking a bit too much - for 2006 anyway.

I agree on the Roger front - i see him dominating for some time yet.

Patty leads Steffi Graf 1-0 in their head to head so i guess Patty must be the greatest player of all time
