Hmm. If she became a power player it would significantly increase her chances against the Williamses, Capriati et al, but the plain fact of the matter is that she CAN'T. Physically, she is not and can never be as powerful as the Big Babes. If she made her game for power-based - as she arguably has done in the past couple of years - she simply can't compete, because she will *never* be as powerful. One of the main things which has caused all the losses to the power brigade is the fact that when playing against them she always seems to get drawn into their game. She tries to outslug them, she tries to do to them what they do to her. And it doesn't work. She *can* junk things up and add variety when she plays them. It's easy to say that they hit it too hard for her to place the ball/volley, but in every single match against them you see at least 20 points where it's Hingis who's in control, who can choose to go to the net or hit an angle - and she invariably doesn't. And on the rare occasion when she does, she wins the point.
Personally, I think she has enough pace in her groundstrokes. Where she doesn't have enough pace is, obviously, her serve. As long as it's still a liability, nothing she does will have any effect.
