Will the Willi's, Jennifer and the others ever be as consistent as Martina Hingis?

It's not a secret. Martina Hingis is the most consistent player on the tour and has been since 1997. Martina Hingis's remarkable record is proof alone. In a season Martina Hingis averages 1 early round loss compared to 4 or more from the Willi's, Jennifer and others. Over 90% of the time Martina Hingis will reach either the semifinals or the final in any tournament. Martina Hingis is the epitome of consistency. Will the Willi's, Jennifer or the others ever be as consistent as Martina Hingis? Why aren't they as consistent as Martina Hingis right now? Was it about Martina Hingis that makes her the most consistent player on the tour?

Isn't it something like her game can pick apart every players game apart from the top few.
So, although the big wins are becoming fewer, her game is still precise enough to beat players out of the top 10.
Her non-power game (when she decides that going toe to toe with power is not a good idea) lower UE count - and the way she plays can create winners against those players whose court coverage is not top notch.
Hense - fewer 1st round losses.

and where they produce desolation, they call it peace

Hingis has a remarkable game. I think her game will probably even outlast the games of the Williams sisters and the other power players. Besides her loopy forehand, her technique seems excellent, and it isn't as taxing on the body.

However, I think even Hingis would trade in some of the consistency for a few big wins in finals or semifinal matches against big hitters.

MARTINA WON 6-1, 6-1 today in the DOUBLES FINAL! CONGRATS BABSI & MARTINA! next week Babsi plays with Cappy in Berlin. Will be interesting to see if they win their matches so easily as Martina and Babsi.

Jen hasn't played doubles since Zurich last year, so she may be out of practice. I wonder what has prompted her to start playing now?

Mirjana Lucic : Australian Open doubles champ and back in Top 100

Jelena Jankovic : US Open finalist 2008 and World No. 1

Jennifer Capriati : 3 Grand Slams, Olympic Gold and World No.1

Rafael Nadal : 10 Grand Slams, Olympic Gold and World No.1
