Has Anyone Else Watched The Margaret Court Interview on The Tennis Channel?

I found her to be quite demure and understated. I wasn't aware she was a preacher, although I did know she is devout Christian. I did notice she pretty much passed on the question about Chrissie and Martina... She seems happy She always gets overlooked on a lot of "Best Ever" lists, though.

That interview was mildly interesting but the one with Virginia Wade was wonderful. Virginia was a hoot in describing today's girls and how they dress. Really funny. In fact, Virginia sounded like someone I would love to have a chat with while I cannot imagine having a chat with Margaret S-C. She would bore me to tears before the entree.

I didn't see it, but please give us all the details!!! It's too bad she gets overlooked. I think it's a combination of her becoming a right-wing nut, being old, not staying in tennis, and not being American.

to say nothing of her "holier than thou" attitude.

Devout christian! well that explains everything, particularly her very dumb comments about Martina's sexuality a while back. Maybe it's just me but it doesn't really matter how great an athlete someone is, if she/he is a biggot or close-minded, it's such a turnoff to me. Athletes, to me, are so international and they represent unity, sportmanship, open-mindedness and they are embassadors of human rights and all that. If you bring Jesus int the equation, like Margaret court or the linebacker from the Eagles...what's his name? You can throw all those great things out the window.

Margaret might be right wing and does preach her interpretation of the word of God, but she generally means well and does a lot of beneficial things for society eg. her healing centre and charity works. She does much more than most people on the planet. She may think that gays have been led astray, but that's ok. That's her opinion and she is entitled to it. And even though she thinks they have been led astray, she still offers help to those that want it, so in that she is doing something positive even though many see it in a negative light. There are many others in the world who do nothing but attack others, so from my perspective she's a pretty decent human being.

So persecuting gay people for being gay is OK as long as you help convert them into being straight? If that's Margaret Court's agenda, then she's not a decent human being. What's wrong with just loving people for the way they ARE!!!!!!

And so are you loving Margaret for just the way she is? It makes me wonder who has the more love in their heart?

Margaret does not persecute gays. She offers guidance and counselling to those that CHOOSE it. Believe it or not, there are some gay, bi and confused people that do ask for guidance. I know a few myself who have turned to others, spirituality or the church for help. Not that they need it IMO, but they felt they did and so who am I to judge.

I am gay and I don't have a problem with any of this. If Margaret was trying to force her lifestyle on me than that would be different.

BTW the true teachings of Jesus focussed on:

UNCONDITIONAL LOVE
FORGIVENESS
NON-JUDGEMENT
WE ARE ALL CONNECTED

Anyone that can bring the true word of Jesus into the world is doing all of mankind a service.

It was a bore and frankly she kind of scared me. I found the Wade interview more entertaining. Wade seems really personable and insightful.
