Cool Williams Stat

I didn't notice this before, so excuse me if this is common knowledge or has been posted before.

2005 marked the first time both Venus and Serena Williams won a GS singles title in the same calendar year.

1999 - Serena won a Slam
2000 - Venus won 2 Slams
2001 - Venus won 2 Slams
2002 - Serena won 3 Slams
2003 - Serena won 2 Slams
2005 - Venus won 1 Slam. Serena won 1 Slam.

Interesting how this is the first time it's happened.

FUCK YOU, SEWTA.

guess it just means that it proves 2005 wasnt the best year for either williams, because prior to 05 they usually met eachother in the grandslam finals

Considering their health and personal issues
2005 while not their best was good and better
than most on the tour who didn't win Slams.

These girls constantly making history!

most impressive combined Williams sister stat i can think of:

between Wimby '01 and RG '03, Williams sisters vs the rest of the WTA Tour at Grand Slam tournaments, win loss record: 73-1.

Actually it's from Wimb '01 through Wimby '03 and the record is 73-2

You'd be surprised how many people didn't realize that. When I mentioned that to my guy, who is a Williams-Fanatic, he didn't even believe me and actually had to look it up to believe it.

I wonder if Serena and Venus realized it when it happened, sounds like a dumb thing to say, but I wouldn't be suprised if someone pointed it out to them before they realized it themselves.
