Williamsí sisters happy with one grand slam title each in 2005...!!!
Washington DC, Dec 15:
Serena's only grand slam victory was at the Australian Open, while Venus won Wimbledon but only after an epic battle against fellow American Lindsey Davenport.
Venus said in Washington on Friday: "I would say that Serena and I were very, very happy with our Grand Slam titles and those were definitely, you know, really amazing points in our year last year and we're looking forward very much to add more; Serena trying to win the Australian and me trying to win the Australian. So there's a lot ahead of us that we have to look forward to."
Serena said: "We're all here to play the Williams sisters' Mcdonald's tour and we're really excited to be here and this preparation tonight against Venus is great preparation leading to the Australian Open for sure."
Venus praised both the exhibition tour and her sister.
"It definitely gives us a chance to be in competition before the competition starts and to be honest there's nobody better to compete against than Serena and hopefully she'd say the same thing about me."

As well they should be happy! All the players who did not win any of the slams in 2005 wish that they had had the seasons these girls had! By the lofty standards set for them, it would have been better if they'd won more slams, but remember that Venus had not won a slam since 2001. While she'd won lesser titles, I can understand her exuberance at receiving the Venus Rosewater Dish!!!!
It is an achievement to win one slam in a year!!!!
