off-season drug testing
I read that top-twenty players must call the WTA every day during the off-season to report their whereabouts and make themselves available for drug testing. If true, this raises a number of questions in my mind. Why just the top-twenty players? Numbers 21 - 200 can go crazy with performance enhancing drugs during the off-season? What if a player wants to go sailing or mountain climbing or engage in some outdoor wilderness adventure that could last days or weeks? Are they allowed to do so? Is a helocopter going to find them with a piss-cup? Are players compensated for this intrusion? Do players need a union to negotiate these issues with the WTA? Any answers, thoughts or insight would be appreciated.
