Martina Hingis just two titles away from unique feat!!!!!

Martina has won the singles and doubles title at every grand slam, tier 1 tournament or the chase, bar only two titles: the Roland Garros singles and berlin doubles.

Wouldn't it be an amazing feat if she could win both those missing titles to complete the sweep? I think it would be a fantastic testament to her remarkable ability and results in both singles and doubles, and her amazing career after all:

Her results at those tournemants:

AUSTRALIAN OPEN: 3 singles, 4 doubles
Singles - 1997, 1998, 1999
Doubles - 1997 (NZ), 98 (ML), 99 (AK), 02 (AK).

ROLAND GARROS: 0 singles, 2 doubles
Singles -
Doubles - 98 (JN), 00 (MP)

WIMBLEDON: 1 singles, 2 doubles
Singles - 1997
Doubles - 96 (HS), 98 (JN)

US OPEN: 1 singles, 1 doubles
Singles - 1997
Doubles - 98 (JN)

CHASE CHAMPS: 2 singles, 2 doubles
SIngles - 1998, 2000
Doubles - 99 (AK), 00 (AK)

Tokyo Pan Pacific: 4 singles, 2 doubles
Singles - 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002
Doubles - 98 (ML), 00 (MP)

Indian Wells: 1 singles, 1 doubles
Singles - 1998
DOubles - 99 (AK)

Key Biscayne: 2 singles, 2 doubles
Singles - 1997, 2000
Doubles - 98 (JN), 99 (JN)

Hilton Head/Charleston: 2 singles, 1 doubles
SIngles - 1997, 1999
Doubles - 97 (MJF)

German Open: 1 singles
Singles - 1999
Doubles -

ITalian Open: 1 singles, 1 doubles
Singles - 1998
Doubles - 99 (AK)

Canadian Open: 2 singles, 2 doubles
Singles - 1999, 2000
Doubles - 98 (JN), 00 (NT)

Zurich: 1 singles, 3 doubles
Singles - 2000
Doubles - 96 (HS), 97 (ASV), 00 (AK)

Moscow: 1 singles, 1 doubles
Singles - 2000
Doubles - 01 (AK)

Also, considering her results in three of the largest tier 2's (Sydney, Hamburg and Filderstadt - martina is extremely close to a clean sweep of practically all the major tournaments on the tour!)

Sydney: 3 singles, 1 doubles
Singles - 1997, 2000, 2001
Doubles - 98 (HS)

Hamburg: 2 singles, 1 doubles
Singles - 1998, 2000
Doubles - 95 (GF)

Filderstadt: 4 singles, 2 doubles
Singles - 1996, 1997, 1999, 2000
DOubles - 97 (ASV), 00 (AK)

Does anyone know if it martina would be the first to have won a singles and doubles title at all the tier 1's, grand slams and the chase if she can do it????

Is anyone else close to that at all? even in just singles???

Sorry to bore some people with all the results, i'm not trying to say martina is the best or better than others, i am just pointing out some great stats in her career for her fans to enjoy (hopefully!)

I don't know if anyone else has done it, but I agree it is VERY impressive ... it would be nice if she held off winning Roland Garros until next year though so that Monica could win it this year .

WHOA! I never knew this! I *hope* she can complete this sweep by the end of her career. Berlin doubles should be a snap. Winning Roland Garros would make her SO happy. Imagine winning the tournament that has given you so many nightmares? I hope Marti can do this!!! I think most likely Martina N has done this, maybe Steffi, but has Steffi even won a doubles GS?

Thanks for the results Martinafan, you're not boring anybody!!!

I think this is really impressive and although I am not a fan of her I have to admit that even if she retires tomorrow she will be one of the greatest tennis players ever.

Impressive stat! If anyone else has done this, it'd most likely be Martina Navratilova.

I would have to say that the Acura Classic in San Diego is stronger than Hamburg or Filderstadt...How has she done there?

IIRC, Graf/Sabatini won Wimbledon in 1988.

Besides the French, She only hasn't won a singles title at one of her regular tour stops, and that's LA. Hopefully she'll win that one this year too!
