Hingis and Schnyder make a nice combo and since so many players seem to be dealing with injuries when Fed Cup comes around their chances aren't hurt by having Hingis around, that's for sure!

If some top players have some injuries, or choose not to play, they could do well. Especially if they play on clay.

considering that Martina didn't play need cup for quite a few years before retiring and that Patty has retired from Fed Cup i would suggest the answer is no.

Maybe they'll both be overcome with feelings of patriotism and decide they want vengence for the 1998 final that they came so close to winning

As "rumor has it" that Heinz Gunthardt will be the new head of the SUI Fed next year, I wonder if he'd hold it against PP that he'd wanted 2B her coach from last year, but that never came to pass.

Gunthardt bombed with Dokic and Capriati and i'm guessing he would have bombed with Patty as well, so it was better for him to save some self-respect.

it's an interesting relationship. They are not really friends but they are very good at using each other, by training together and also by playing off the differences in the way the public perceives them. Although, Patty has become much more like Hingis as a personality in the three years of Martina's absence. Patty used to be the shy girl, now she is about the least shy person i can think of, she wants all the attention she can get, so it'll be interesting to see how the two of them share the spotlight.
