may it was even good for Groenefeld to loose the final today?!

i just want to see it positive
sure it was a huge opportunity
but Maria played very good today, and A-L not so - and so Maria deserved this title more.

but my thought are

we have Filderstadt in 1 week, and i don´t want to know what the media would have done with her if she would have won her first title today in Bejing. sure, Tennis sin´t that big in germany like 10 years ago but we know the german media like to give labels like "the new Steffi" or all this stupid stuff

sure it would be great for her, but maybe it is better this way.

just my thoughts

not my WTA-Tour anymore

What does German media have to do with Teutonic Barbie's game plan? Good serve + moonballing at crunch times gets you as far as top20 once in a century. Just ask Meg S.

And don't get your hopes too high

Martinez lived/played in 20th century. ALG does not.

And so shouldn't you

i never said A-L will reach top5 or top10

you don´t know german media, i don´t expect miracles from her
but the german media would

ALG's game seems to be getting more like shaughnessys-maybe the influence of her coach.

she didnt play that well today-too many moonballs which clearly werent working-she should have just blasted the ball. she has one advantage over kirilenko and that is power. by not hitting the ball that hard she was letting maria into the points and kirilenko took full advantage

I think Groenefeld can be positive about her week but she should be kicking herself about a huge opportunity wasted. Kirilenko played very solid tennis but Groenefeld does have the game to overpower her but was too indecisive to do so today.

She's got to hit that backhand hard and flat 95% of the time. She was lofting it more than I've ever seen her do before today. The same thing happened with Shaughnessy in her US Open match against Karatantcheva, so I'm sure the coach must be behind this.

Moonballing is a good play against Makiri. She likes to use her opponents pace to her advantage, changing the direction of the ball (kinda like Hingis). ALG was forcing her to create her own pace which is not so easy for a small girl like Makiri. Maria was just too good today.
