Has Myskina set a new record in a WTA event?

By reaching the final in Kolkata without beating a player inside the top 125 WTA?

And the person she is playing in the final is ranked #81...

That has got to be a record. There are people who have won challengers that went through tougher fields than Myskina did at this Tier III event.

Hey, I am proud to be a fan of player who has the weirdest records!

- first ever reigning RO champ to go out in the very first round
- played the longest third-set tiebreak at a WTA tourney (along with Vera)
- first ever player naked on a horse

and now adding: First ever player who didn´t have to meet a Top 100 player en route to the finals of a Tier III event.

That´s bitching! ...no, I am sure there´s got to be someone else who did it before. Besides, I have the feeling that the draw was a bit manipulated somehow...I mean come on! No Mirza, no Sprem in her half? When I first saw the draw, I had the feeling they wanted to have a Mirza-Nastya final really badly!

Nastya vs Lena would have been a good match-up: (1)Myskina (RUS/12) vs (2)Likhovtseva (RUS/16) for a tier III final !!! Too bad it did not happen...could have been a good match!

MGM faced such a weak draw in winning her only WTA title (Tashkent '02) as the top seed that it moved her up in the rankings all the way from #50 to #49.
