I am concerned about Australian women's tennis

Next year Australia will not have a top 100 player.
Unless Alicia picks up (please Alicia) she wont be able to defend her points. if her form continues she will out of the top 100 in no time. Sam Stosur does not have long too. After two weeks next year she will be out of the top 200. Evie Dominkovic is a choker. I'm not going to start on Nicole Pratt. Aussie girls you better pick up!!!!
Atleast we are doing well in doubles. 3 players in the top 10. (Stubbs 3, Stosur 7, Molik 8)
anyone else as concerned as me?

Molik out from 100 Stosur will lost a lot of points in first two weeks but she will be in the top 200

I don't want to see it happen.
I have faith in Alicia, but Sam has blown her chance to do well. She achieved a lucky week (walkovers from Dementieva and Davenport) which gave her a high enough ranking to do get into good tournaments without qualifying. She had the opportunity to make the top 30. After she loses her points for the start of the year, she have to qualify for weak events.

molik will be back. u dun just play well for 3 or 4 months and lose it all together. (unless u're lucic ) i'm sure she's training very hard now to get her former form back. have faith in her!

I'm worried.

I hope Molik recovers soon.

When was the last time we don't have Aussie player in Top 100?

Inspiration is for amateurs

Faves: Mona Barthel / Samantha Stosur / Roberta Vinci

australian tennis has been in trouble for a long time but it's been partly covered by the success of the men.

silly to write Molik off as she was playing at the elite level early this year and it's unfair to expect her to be right back at that level. i expect she'll drop a bit but won't be out of the top 20 for too long.

Stosur has talent and i think she'll eventually learn to play overseas. Sure she got lucky in Sydney but she still beat good players, pushed Molik all the way, and was pretty unlucky not to win the Gold Coast tournament. Her doubles success suggests to me that she will turn the corner eventually.

Sophie Ferguson will probably never be the best player but she's got great people in her corner and has shown some pretty good form and is only being held back by injuries.

in reality australian men's tennis is in far greater trouble. Hewitt will be at the top for a long time but they've got to hope a youngster comes along in that time. Philippoussis is all but gone, Arthurs must be near retirement, Woodbrige retired. Luzcak is at best a top 100 player and he's not young. Guccione should end up in the top 50/75 but has nothing but a serve. I saw Todd Reid at my sports club on Monday and he spent ten minutes on a bike with his coach and then just wondered around for half an hour.

There have been considerable changes to Tennis Australia and their coaching programs but the end result of that is not likely to show for many years.

Alicia won't be out of top 100 IMO. she has potential to be at least top 30 for years.

yep, i agree. aussie mens' tennis is in deeper shit than the women are. at least you still have some decent young girls, but the men have NONE! the only person they depend on is hewitt, but that guy is going down(by going down, i mean not in the top 3). and he cannot always be expected to lift the davis cup team on his own

wayne arthurs is of ancient age, woodbridge has retired, and todd reid and chris guccione are are there any new juniors on the way? i havent seen any

Peter Luczak is the most promising I think.

he's a solid enough player but he's 26, hasn't achieved anything much and certainly is not going to make a big difference.

Goh is probably the most promising. He's a got a pretty complete game, but i think he's 18 now. He's certainly the one they're hyping the most but i really don't know how good he is now becasue i haven't seen him play since he was 13 or 14. I used to play against his older brother at school.
