Hopefully this doesn't take her out of next week and the other tournaments she is playing. I want her to make the YEC on her own, not because the tour picks the 8th spot. I figured she might retire because she doesn't need to risk her year at this point. The knee probably got worse over night as most injuries do. It sucks because she would've won this tournament if she wouldn't have gotten injured.

Injured Venus out of China Open

Venus Williams has pulled out of the China Open with a knee injury.

Williams, who was due to play Marta Domachowska in the quarter-finals, suffered the injury in her opening match against Nuria Llagostera Vives.

Despite easily winning that contest 6-3 6-1, the American third seed received treatment on her left knee which was taped near the end.

The withdrawal means Russian Maria Sharapova is now the only top four seeded player remaining.
