  1. With few exceptions (Serena being the most notable), you can call them parity in WTA.
  2. Or players tend to relax after reaching high ranking, in which case they deserve to lose.
  3. Pressure at the top, players are not wearing their high ranking crown as well as they should. Sveta comes to mind, she once complained that everyone was trying to beat her after winning US Open.
  4. Some high ranking were inflated or skewed due to absense of genuine top players.

i can't remember another 2 day stretch this year w/ so many upsets..can anyone else?
usually wta is very predictable w/ fewer upsets than in atp.
again , i think this is a 2 day freakish occurrence and normalcy should return on thursday.
at least i hope so.

The fact is that these tournaments don't have much value to some players. The amount of upsets would have been cut in half in bigger tournaments. But I agree there have been some rather peculiar results... Like Li,Serena and Mirza losing although there might be others reasons behind we don't know...

new depth in wta

Something was bound to go right sometime today, All these broken pieces fit together to make a perfect picture of us
It got cold and then dark so suddenly and rained, It rained so hard the two of us were the only thing
That we could see for miles and miles
And in the middle of the flood I felt my worth, When you held onto me like I was your little life raft
Please know that you were mine as well
Drops of water hit the ground like God's own tears
And spread out into shapes like Salad bowls and basins and buckets for bailing out the flood

None of them are huge upsets.
Serena has been out of shape for months. She has to pay the price to climb back up.
Mirza is overrated told you two months ago. Hits the ball hard but right on edge of consistency and her movement is very average she will fall like my favorite Carolina Sprem. At least she has better movement.
