True elite

Serena Williams
Venus Williams
Lindsay Davenport
Justine Henin-Hardenne

Not as 'elite'

Maria Sharapova
Kim Clijsters
Amelie Mauresmo
Mary Pierce

Definitely NOT 'elite'

All of the players in the poll not named Pierce

Not blind. Not uninformed. We are party to atrocities. But the response of the world after 9/11 is worth noting. Even our most dire enemies offered aid. We should all be so lucky.

Hantuchova is in good form so I voted for her. (Plus she's my fave so it's kinda hard not to. )
Dementieva - Most of the time she is.
Myskina - A true elite fighter.

I voted the first 5 all as elite. Some of them have not been playing well recently but you still don't want to face them. Pierce is the best of those 5 right now but I'm not sure how long she can keep up her superb play. She is the most likely of any of the poll options to win the Open.

Petra Kvitova-Angelique Kerber-Jelena Ostapenko

Timea Bacsinszky-Ana Konjuh-Caroline Garcia-Zarina Diyas
