Tennis Rule Question

This eve, I played a little match against my friend. Offcourse we don't have ballboys/girls, so some balls lay around the court (close to the net or behind us). At breakpoint for me the following happened:

During the rally I play a stroke that lands a meter behind the net straight on one of the other balls. Offcourse my friend is unable to play the next stroke. He says the point should be replayed. I'm convinced the point is mine.

So what do you think?
A) The point is mine
B) The point should be replayed

I think by the rule - the point is yours, but in fairness the point should have been replayed.

replay the point, you should also make sure that there are no balls on the court, try to keep them far behind the baseline

pff, on breakpoint fairness does not exist

It would be the same as a ball that touches the net --> bad luck if you cannot reach it.

That's what we do most of the time, but you cannot expect when you miss first serve and hit it in the net to go up there to pick up the ball

The point is yours because it's not your fault that the stray ball was there in the first place. Your opponent should have moved it before the next point.

If you put it like that I would say that you're lucky

It's your opponent's responsibility to remove the balls from their side of the court.

It doesn't matter what you, I or anyone else thinks; according to the rules, the point is yours. I would suggest, though, that you pick up stray balls on your side of the court, because it WILL happen to you if you don't.

If it's the first time it happens you should let it go and play a let but technically it's yours.

That is the most on target answer to the question.
