difficult. I guess I go for Jennifer-Serena cos they met so often and their matches really brought lots of drama! Especially during Serena's peak, Jen was most of the time even and played amazing against her, but in the end Serena had more energy I guess! Then last year, Jennifer turned to play more defensive against Serena which brought less quality but she finally won again and the drama was still there (US Open...) So, emotinal rollercoaster fits as well, those ladies always fought so hard and really gave it to each other!
While writing this, I realize I really miss this match up! Please come back Jen!

I'd have to say that Justine vs Serena is the most compelling and brings the most drama. Also they resently have had a more competitive rivally with Justine winning 2 of the last 3.

Serena vs Sharapova. Ever since the Wimbledon final there seems to be something special about these 2 hooking up. There is just so much tension when they have to face off now. Serena wants to prove that the Wimbledon final was a fluke and Maria wants to prove that she is in fact a better player than Serena.

Yeah, but I don't think they should be in this poll cause they don't really have a rivalry yet.

The only matchup on that list that even qualifies as a 'rivalry' is Serena Williams-Jennifer Capriati. Oh that's not true. It's just that there's some actual negative emotion there.

Henin-Hardenne vs Clijsters SHOULD be a rivalry, and maybe in Eurpoe it is. But to me, Henin-Hardenne wins whenever it's important. Like a slam final. Y'know, I'm not being fair. It's a rivalry. And a good one, actually.

Venus Williams vs Lindsay Davenport SHOULD be a rivalry, but it's not. Just too great players with a lot of respect for each other and a ridiculously close head-to-head. 14-13.

I guess my real problem with this is that I was around for the whole 80 matches of Evert-Navratilova. So I just can't treat a 2-2 head-to-head as in any way significant. Even 10-10 doesn't seem like so many matches.

Not blind. Not uninformed. We are party to atrocities. But the response of the world after 9/11 is worth noting. Even our most dire enemies offered aid. We should all be so lucky.

They haven't played in two years...and the only time Justine ever beats Serena is on clay. This isn't a rivalry yet.

The best one is Jennifer/Serena. They always go three sets, the matches are always drama-filled, and there's been a war of words between these two as well. There always seems to be some type of controversy with these two as well, so that fuels the fire.

Serena vs JCap- always full of tons of drama and since no other player has defeated Serena more than Jen it's always a nail bitter. These two love to compete against one another and when they play it's probably the most intense rivalry we have.

Serena vs Sharapova- they've only played 4 times but they are tied at 2 wins a piece. Every match they seem to play seems like it's an important match. These two have battled at the later stages of slams, but unlike JCap and Serena they have played in a final of a major against one another. This rivalry is turning into one of the most exciting on tour.

Serena vs Justine- too bad they haven't had a chance to play lately, but I have a feeling that when they do end up facing each other their rivalry will pick up right where it left off. This is another high drama battle and I love how neither player wants to give an inch.

Lindsay vs Venus- I'm not sure why this rivalry hasn't been "The Rivalry" you have all the ingredients. I think it's because for so long their rivalry has swung either one way or the other. Late in their rivalry it's become more and more a toss up as to who will win and that just adds to the excitement.

Kim vs Justine- this rivalry is on par with Serena vs. Venus... all the ingredients are there for fireworks, but you never know what kind of match you'll get. I'm anxious to see these two resume their on-court battles.

If Jen was playing, I'd voted for her against serena. So I had to decide: Kim against Lindsay or Maria against Serena. Both had tough fights in the last 12 months.

I chose Kim against lindsay, just because I think these two are the best in the world at the moment. every match between them is a little final

Let this one develop first. A 2-2 head to head is a good start, but the matches between these two are really far apart. They played at Miami in March of '04, then Wimbledon of July '04, then Los Angeles of November '04, and now January of '05 - and they haven't played since then. When they start playing more frequently, then it will really shape into a rivalry.
